What is the point of two Ethernet ports on my motherboard?

How do I stop my surround sound system cutting out? January 21, 5: Please help me find a way to stop it happening. I’m using a Panasonic SC-AK receiver; it has 5 speakers and is programmed to receive digital signals. It’s plugged into both my DVD player and Xbox through a coaxial cable and optical cable, respectively. When the volume is at higher levels, all but the center speaker cuts out. I know that this may be some kind of safety feature to keep the speakers from becoming ruined, but I feel that the volume should be able to be higher. If I’m not watching something in that configuration ie, noise is still coming from all speakers; it’s just not in 5.

Help with 2.1 + headphones set up.

Are you sure that you want to delete this answer? Yes Sorry, something has gone wrong. There is a problem with this idea. Multi channel surround is encoded to send all the music and sound effects to the main speakers, some effects to the surrounds, and dialog to the center speaker. You can connect a sub there but it isn’t going to provide any bass. The encoding simply doesn’t send the bass information to the center speaker output.

I also have a Yamaha RX-V ( model) that I had been keeping as a spare receiver. Knowing that many people have had problems with Yamaha receivers and X1 remotes, I decided to hook up the Yamaha and run the same test.

Customer Reviews 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Overall it is a good unit, specially for the price. By Strobble The only thing I disliked about this receiver is the connection for center and surround channels have push in connectors that are too small for the heavy duty speaker wire I bought some years ago. The wire just won’t go in without removal of some strands. Everything else on the unit is good, especially the DSP.

Need affordable receiver suggestion

Land of 10, Lakes Status: Thinking About Going 5: Right now I’m using a very nice 2: I also have a couple of other very nice bookshelf speakers, so the only other speaker I’ll need to get is for the center channel. The questions I have is will this receiver work with a computer and monitor setup? Or, do I need to get a sound card, and is that the best option?

Nov 07,  · Except for the newest UEI remote, which was made for Directv, it lists , , , , and for yamaha. It now accept 5 digit setup codes instead of 4. You might drop the first “3”, from the those codes and try them in your Comcast remote.

This affordable speaker system features Advanced YST Yamaha Active Servo Technology–a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance to ensure the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance. This outstanding system also features wide-range system frequency response, and magnetic shielding on the front and center speakers.

I now have one I think is quite original and requires me to post in the hope of advice. The apartment block I’m in has recently been backboned for Foxtel and the NBN, all 24 apartments, except mine. When the contracters went to install a point in my empty apartment before I moved in from the outside wall they hit the ILLEGAL power point my owner had installed without Strata’s knowledge and couldn’t get access to complete the job the owner does not live locally. After several attempts to get assistance on this from the owner by my agent and the Strata, I now realize my Foxtel access is not high on his agenda no it’s not on the lease either.

The President of the Strata is totally supportive of me getting Foxtel as he is not a fan of the owner. I have had Foxtel out to try and install but they have told me they would have to get a boom lift etc. I am on the top floor directly one concrete slab below the communications room where the Foxtel hub is installed. So here is what the “Pres” has come up with, and where you guys come in.

View Profile Hey everyone. I installed a friend’s system a few years ago. In the system he was using a non-HDMI receiver.

Universal remote controls are a dime a dozen these days, and I bought one as a backup to my other remotes. The only problem with these things is that you need to know the codes of the remotes you want to emulate, and these codes are usually in the manual.

The Best Home Theater AV Receiver

Sunday, July 17, – You indicate you would have a preference towards music over video, is that right? In either case, how would you be listening to the system? If you are engaged in mostly background wallpaper, then a dedicated two channel system might not be the most preferable. As a college student, does your time allow you to simply sit and listen to music with the intent of enjoying the music for what it is vs just as background?

Jason Charlton OK – that is most likely the cause of at least part of your problems not getting the “right” sound. Casey might be right about the headphones – make sure the jack is all the way in, or you might not be getting the full stereo signal from the headphone jack. Most TVs will downconvert any digital surround sound to simple stereo before being output via its digital optical connection. Unfortunately, the receiver does not have any HDMI connections, so to get the best out of your system, you should do the following: By default, digital input 2 is designated for TV – it’s the middle connector on the far left side of the back of the receiver.

If you used digital optical connections for both, then assign accordingly. You should also disable the TV speakers from within its audio setup menu or mute the TV sound when you’re using the receiver – you’ll get weird echoes if you use the TV speakers at the same time as the receiver speakers. Let me know if this works for you, or if you have any other questions. Are you new to the Home Theater Forum? Stop by the New Member Introductions area and introduce yourself!

I had some spare time today so I decided to see if my new XR11 V3 remotes were any different. I used both the known codes and the manual code search process. Using the manual code search process, I found a code that would turn it on. I found another code that would turn it off. But I did not find a code that would do both. Knowing that many people have had problems with Yamaha receivers and X1 remotes, I decided to hook up the Yamaha and run the same test.

I got the same result. I found one code that would turn it on and another code that would turn it off but not one code that would do both.
